Hammy's Birthday

Four years ago I left the Pine Valley Reunion in the middle of the night. It took a couple days but early Tuesday morning an adorable little red head was born. This year, he celebrated his birthday at his beloved Pine Valley. Who wouldn't love a three day camping trip with 122 relatives to celebrate your birthday. So, with great excitement we planned for this special day. Of all important things, one must have a cake. He settled on an Union Pacific F7 coal train with a DPU and red caboose. The final product may not have actually modeled a full F7 and we passed up the DPU because the train was only 4 coal cars long but he was happy anyway. It was so much fun to make. I had half a dozen cousins begging to lick the frosting and eat the trim but enough made it on the cake to have one happy little boy. So without further ado, we present Hammie's 4th Birthday Cake.

This was the model.
Having this cute helper was the best part. He helped for a couple hours.
Luckily we left the chocolate cake coal in the metal hoppers topped with chocolate frosting and crunched Oreo coal. The tracks were made of black licorice rails, chocolate graham cracker ties and wheat puffs ballast.

Some of the cousins and a big birthday wish.
I think we did OK for a family reunion.
